EVA Scotland supports a minimum fee structure, with a higher unit cost to promote the best use of the chargers and ensuring that the Charge Point Operator costs are met, with best possible utilisation of the assets encouraged.

We believe that the use of a minimum fee and a tiered tariff structure are key to supporting EV users and EV uptake. Encouraging best use of infrastructure will also ensure that revenue is maximised, allowing councils to operate on ChargePlace Scotland at or around neutral costs.

We would encourage all Fife member to write to their councillor to lobby for a more suitable tariff that will encourage better driver behaviours.

If Fife Council’s rationale is to charge a £1.10 for parking, how does it justify that sum for car parks where non-EVs park for free e.g. Tayport. I spend a fair bit of time in northern Fife and it is clear to see that the charging infrastructure, as poor as it is, is not well used. The chargers in Cupar are seldom in use when I pass and St Andrews is little better. Fife’s charging policy undercuts the Council’s environmental credentials and discriminates against those who cannot have a home charger for whatever reason. Dundee City and Angus Council are so far ahead of Fife in the provision of infrastructure and charging policy.

Plus points for making it clear that any parking fee is covered... but not in otherwise free car parks.
